Former Saluki golfer and Decatur native Hunter York is the current Graduate Assistant for the Men and Women’s golf for the 2022-2023 Big Blue Season. York was the 2014 IHSA State Champion golfer of the year for Class 1A. After High School York spent two years at John A. Logan College in Carterville, IL where he won 7 tournaments in 2 years including an NCAA Division 1 tournament individual win at the SkyHawk Classic hosted by UT Martin. York left John A. Logan with All-American Honors to attend Southern Illinois University Carbondale on the golf team.
At SIU York completed 2 years as a Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete and GCAA Scholar Athlete for NCAA Division 1. York left his Senior year by helping lead the Salukis to a conference win which included a final round 68 with a 31 on the final 9 holes that propelled the Salukis to their second ever NCAA Regional Appearance. Outside of golf York loves to play basketball, go boating, and be a student of the game of golf.
