Former Millikin University soccer player Chad Jones became Millikin’s Head Men’s Soccer Coach in March 2011. In 2014, Jones was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Co-Coach of the Year as the Big Blue earned a berth into the CCIW post season tournament. Jones' rebuilding efforts of the Big Blue program resulted in a 9-8-1 overall record and a 4-3 conference record for a fourth place finish in the CCIW in 2014. In 2016, Jones led the Big Blue to its third straight season with a winning record.
Jones has extensive coaching experience at the collegiate, club, high school, and developmental level. Jones was the head men’s soccer coach at NCAA Division II University of Illinois-Springfield from Feb. 2010 to March 2011.
Jones has served two stints as assistant coach in the Big Blue men’s soccer program including in 2009 and 2000-01. Jones has also been an assistant coach at Illinois Wesleyan University and Eastern Illinois University.
In addition to his collegiate experience, Jones serves as an Olympic Development Staff Coach for the State of Illinois.
Jones was the Executive Director of the Springfield Soccer Association from 2007-2008 and the Director of Soccer for the Midstate Soccer Club and Academy in Decatur from 2001-2007.
Jones was the varsity soccer coach for men’s and women’s soccer at Decatur MacArthur High School from 1995 to 2000. His men’s team went to the IHSA Class A Final Four in 1999 and he was named the Decatur Herald and Review Soccer Coach of the Year in 1998 and 1999.
Jones has a NSCAA “Premier” Diploma, USSF National “B” License, NSCAA Youth Diploma, NSCAA Level I Goalkeeping Certificate and a FA Player and Match Analysis Certificate. In 2009, he studied in the Everton FC Academy Program in Liverpool, England.
Jones is a 1994 graduate of Millikin where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.
