Steven Talbot

Steve Talbot joined the Big Blue track and field staff in August 2021, serving as the event coach for the Sprints, Hurdles, Relays, and Horizontal Jumps, as well as the program’s Recruiting Coordinator.

Prior to joining the staff at Millikin, Talbot volunteered on the coaching staff at the University of Oklahoma, working with the horizontal jumps and men’s sprints for the 2018-2019 season. At Oklahoma, Talbot aided in coaching the Sooners to four All-American performances (men’s 4x100m relay, men’s triple jump (2), and women’s triple jump) and several Top 10 marks in program history.

Talbot first joined the collegiate coaching ranks in 2017 as an assistant coach at Amherst College. There, he coached the Mammoth men’s 4x400m relay to their first Division III National Championship appearance in seven years, finishing 10th at the 2018 Indoor National Championship meet.

One of few coaches to coach at a Division I, Division III, and high school national championship meet, Talbot began his career at the high school level. In that time, his athletes broke over 40 school records, won 19 league championships, and competed at four New Balance National championship meets.

Since 2016, Talbot has worked as an Associate Clinician at the Complete Track & Field Clinic. Held annually on the campus of Harvard University, the CTF Clinic is the country’s largest track clinic, attracting high school-aged athletes from around the world.

Talbot earned his Sprint/Hurdle/Relay Specialist Certification through the USTFCCCA in the summer of 2017. A Massachusetts native, he was a three-year member of the Ludlow High School track & field team, competing in the 100m, 200m, 4x100m, and shot put. Talbot earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Concordia University St. Paul, and his A.A. in Creative Writing from Holyoke Community College. He has also completed work towards his M.B.A.
