Morgan Hughes

Morgan Hughes joined the Millikin Athletics staff in October 2019, serving as an Assistant Women's Basketball Coach.

Hughes concluded her fifth season with UChicago women's basketball as an assistant coach in 2018-19. In her time at UChicago, Hughes helped guide the team to a 24-3 overall record and a 14-0 record in the UAA in the 2017-18 season. In that same season, the Maroons won 22 straight games, the second-longest winning streak in program history, and for the third time in four years, Hughes was a member of the UAA Coaching Staff of the Year. 

The 2016-17 Maroons posted a 19-8 overall record and reached the second round of the NCAA postseason. UChicago received UAA Coaching Staff of the Year honor.

In 2014-15, the Maroons won the UAA conference with a 12-2 record. Head Coach Carissa Sain Knoche and her assistants were named UAA Coaching Staff of the Year.

Hughes spent 11 years at Hope College as both a player and a coach. In that time, the Flying Dutch won more than 20 games in 11-consecutive seasons with a 299-29 record, claimed eight Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) titles, competed eight times in the NCAA tournament, made five NCAA Elite Eight appearances and two Final Four appearances, and won the Division III National Championship in 2006.

Hughes served as a student assistant coach from 2004-07 and then as an assistant coach from 2007-14. She was also the head jayvee coach from 2010-13, assistant to the athletic directors from 2008 to 2010, and involved in the college's hosting of the Special Olympics. She graduated from Hope in 2007 with a degree in social studies and a minor in kinesiology.
