Sam Osborne

       Former Big Blue golfer Sam Osborne took over as Millikin’s Head Men’s Golf Coach in August 2011.  Osborne was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Men's Golf Coach of the Year for 2012-13.  In May of 2016, Osborne was promoted to Director of Golf for Millikin serving as the head coach for both the Big Blue men's and women's golf programs.
          Osborne, a 2010 Millikin graduate, spent the 2010-11 season as an assistant men’s golf coach on the Big Blue staff helping to guide the Millikin team to a CCIW Championships and a 14th place finish in the NCAA Division III Championships.
        As a player for the Big Blue, Osborne earned four varsity letters in golf and served as team captain for two years. As a senior, Osborne had an 18-hole stroke average of 77 and won the McNaughton Memorial at Illinois College carding a 69.
    Being a Decatur native, Osborne is a familiar face in the Decatur area golf scene. He has been working for the Decatur Park District since age 16 doing inside and outside golf operations, works with the Decatur Junior Golf Academy, and playing in a number of city championships. Osborne also continues to play competitively in various USGA and CDGA tournaments.  
        In November of 2016, Osborne earned his TPI Level 1 Certification in Phoenix, AZ. Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) is the world's leading educational organization dedicated to the study of how the human body functions in relation to the golf swing.
          Osborne enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling the world, fishing, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and reading golf books.
