Matt McCarty joined the Big Blue staff in July 2017 and will be in his sixth season as assistant men’s soccer coach in the 2022 season.
After playing for the Big Blue his freshman year, McCarty served as an undergraduate assistant coach for three seasons, where he was responsible for video and equipment management for the team. During his time as an undergraduate assistant, McCarty also began coaching for Midstate Soccer Club in Decatur, where he served as head coach to the club’s top team.
As an assistant coach for Millikin, McCarty has played a key role in recruiting incoming students through connections with area high schools, clubs and international recruiting agencies. McCarty also helped lead the Big Blue to a #4 ranking in the NCAA Regional Rankings, the highest ranking the program has ever seen.
McCarty currently holds a USSF National B License, USC Goalkeeper Level 1 Diploma, USC 11v11 Diploma, English FA Talent Identification Certificate, English FA Psychology Level 1 Diploma and Various Special Topics Diplomas.
McCarty graduate from Millikin in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education and resides in Decatur.
