The #23 ranked Millikin University volleyball team survived an upset bid from Wheaton College 3-2 in the semifinals of the 2014 CCIW Tournament on November 7 at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin.  The Big Blue advance to Saturday's championship match taking on the winner of the match between the number one seed Carthage Lady Reds and the number four seed Elmhurst Bluejays.
Millikin started strong winning the first set 25-6 as the Wheaton Thunder committed 14 errors in the set.  The Thunder then regrouped to take the second set 25-19 as it was Millikin's turn to make double digit errors.
Both teams settled down after the first two sets and played a thrilling five set match.  Millikin won set three 25-19, but the Thunder would not go away taking the fourth set 25-19.
The fifth set was a thriller with the Big Blue winning 20-18.  The match reached match point six times before Millikin pulled out the win.  Millikin led 14-13, but Wheaton scored the next two points to go up 15-14.  A kill from Audrey Krajec kept Millikin alive and tied the set at 15-15.  Wheaton would have a match point opportunity at 17-16, but freshman Alora Goodey kept the Big Blue alive with a kill.  Millikin had another match point opportunity at 18-17, but a Millikin service error allowed the match to continue.  Senior Sara Travis gave the Big Blue match point at 19-18 and a Wheaton ball handling error gave Millikin the victory.
