Fourth Outburst Stops Big Blue Upset Bid

          The Millikin football team couldn't overcome a fourth quarter outburst by #21 North Central College falling 49-21 in front of a large Homecoming crowd at Frank M. Lindsay Field in Decatur, Illinois on October 3.
          The Cardinals scored 35 fourth quarter points to overcome a 21-7 Big Blue lead.
          North Central scored two first quarter touchdowns to build a 14-0 advantage.
          Millikin cut the lead in half early in the second quarter when Demetreeus Loper picked off a Justin Hunniford pass and returned it 38 yards for a touchdown.
          Millikin tied the game in the third quarter on a 66 yard touchdown run by quarterback Nicco Stepina.  Millikin took the lead when Stepina connected with Rion Tutt on a 25 yard pass with 30 seconds left the third quarter to make it 21-14.
          Dylan Ward entered the game at quarterback for North Central and helped launch the Cardinals offensive explosion.  Warden tied the game on a nine yard run and then gave North Central the lead for good on a 24 yard run.  Warden would add a third rushing touchdown late in the quarter.
          Stepina was the Big Blue's top rusher with 75 yards on 17 carries. He was 16-28 passing for 150 yards and one touchdown.  Tutt had six catches for 84 yards.
          Warden had 109 yards rushing on 11 carries and three touchdowns. 
          Loper had two interceptions in the game along with two pass breakups and five tackles.  Chase Robbins led the Big Blue with 12 tackles.
          Richard Zirngibl had seven tackles to lead the Cardinals.
          Millikin is now 1-3, 0-1 while North Central goes to 2-2, 1-0.
          Millikin travels to Illinois Wesleyan on October 10.
