Millikin Men’s Basketball Falls at Wheaton

          The Millikin men's basketball team lost at Wheaton College 70-67 on February 11 at the King Arena in Wheaton, Illinois.
          Millikin led much of the first half and took a 28-24 advantage into halftime.
The Big Blue pushed its lead to nine points at 33-24 with just over 18 minutes left in the game before the Thunder began inching their way back into the game.  Wheaton would take a brief lead at 46-44 at the 10 minute mark of the second half.  Wheaton would take the lead with 13 minutes left to play and the game would be a back and forth contest the rest of the way.  A Tommy Pilackas three pointer would pull Millikin to within one at 68-67 with eight seconds left to play.  Brayden Teuscher would hit two with seven seconds left to seal the win for Wheaton.
          Wheaton shot 41 percent from the field while holding Millikin to 36 percent.  Wheaton had a nine point advantage at the free throw line hitting 23-28 compared to 14-20 for Millikin.  The Thunder lead NCAA Division III in free throw percentage.  Wheaton edged Millikin in the rebounding battle 39-38.
          TJ Sims led Millikin with 22 points.  Pilackas and Nathan Biggs each had nine points.  Zach Long had seven points and a team high eight rebounds.
          Wheaton's top scorer was Ricky Samuelson with 18 points.
          Millikin has not won in Wheaton since February 19, 1994.  Millikin broke a 25 game winning streak in the series between the two schools earlier this season and the Big Blue had high hopes for the season swept for the first time since the 1993-94 season.
