Big Blue Softball Drops Pair of Games

    After opening its Florida trip going 5-1, the Millikin softball dropped a pair of games on Thursday, March 12 in Clermont, Florida.
    Millikin lost to Bowdoin 6-5 in 11 innings in game one.  The game was tied at 1-1 after seven innings.  Using the International Tie Breaker rule both teams scored three runs in the eight inning and one run in the 10th.  Bowdoin finally pushed the winning run across in the bottom of the 11th inning.
    Nicole Koch and Erica Forbes each had two hits for Millikin including a double.  Forbes drove in one run.  Alyssa Voegele drove home two for Millikin.
    Julia Geaumont was the winning pitcher throwing all 11 innings, knocking out two hits and driving in two runs for Bowdoin.
    Millikin lost the second game 2-0 to Lake Forest College.  Seniors Rachel Kindred and Becca Thompson each had two hits for the Big Blue.  
    Lake Forest's Jenny McTague out duel Millikin's Cathy Lebryk.  McTague allowed only fours and no runs over six and one-third innings while striking out five.  Lebryk allowed eight hits and two runs for Millikin over 7 innings.
    Lake Forest improves to 6-0 while Millikin goes to 5-7.
    Millikin will play two games on Friday night before heading back to campus.
