Big Blue Baseball Splits Doubleheader

          The Millikin baseball team spilt a doubleheader with Hiram College on March 13 in Fort Myers, Florida.  Each game was scheduled for seven innings with Millikin winning the first one 4-1 and losing game two 10-5.
          Millikin won the first game behind the strong pitching of senior Sean Beal.  Beal limited the Terrier one run on five hits over five and two-thirds inning.  Ben Peters earned his first save of the season throwing the final one and one-third innings holding Hiram without a hit.
          Freshman Devin Crews and Anthony Rendina each went 2-3 at the plate.  Brian Ekiss and Erik Schurtz had RBIs for Millikin.
          Millikin jumped out to a 3-0 lead in game two, the Hiram stormed back with one run in the first, four in the second and three in the third to take control of the game.
          Keith Askins and Schurtz each had two hits for Millikin in game two.  Brian Ekiss, Schurtz, Frank Barnes, Clayton Welker and Michael Guddendorf each had an RBI for the Big Blue.
          The Terrier offense was led by Trever Foster who was 3-4 with three RBIs.  Eric Martin also drove in three runs for Hiram. 
          Millikin goes 3-2 in Florida and returns home to continue its season in the ever changing Central Illinois weather.  The Big Blue have a scheduled doubleheader at home with Washington University-St. Louis on Tuesday, March 17 starting at 2 p.m. at Sunnyside Field.
