Big Blue Baseball Sweeps at Fontbonne

    The Millikin baseball team swept a doubleheader at Fontbonne University at Shaw Park in St. Louis, Missouri on March 18.
    The Big Blue won game one 1-0 behind the pitching of senior Sean Beal.  Beal shutout the Griffins on three hits over the game's scheduled seven innings.  
    Millikin scored its lone run in the first inning.  Freshman Kaleb Krigbaum opened the game with a base hit.  Krigbaum was sacrificed over to second and scored on a Fontbonne error.  Krigbaum and Lucas Stefan each had two hits for Millikin.
    Ethan Boyer had all three hits for Fontbonne in game one.
    The Big Blue won game two 6-5.  Millikin scored four runs in the fourth inning of game two to take a 4-0 advantage.  Freshman catcher Hunter Wenstrom drove home two runs with a single to start the Big Blue scoring.  Later in the inning Krigbaum drove home two more runs with a double.  
    Fontbonne answered with two runs in the fifth inning on a two-run single by Tanner Carter
    Lucas Stefan opened the Millikin sixth inning with a double and was followed by a single from Cody BlunkMichael Guddendorf made it a 6-2 lead for Millikin with a two-run single.
    Fontbonne answered with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.  The inning was highlighted by a two-run double by Patrick Shuff.
    Krigbaum was 2-4 in game two and Wenstrom went 2-3.
    Kyle Davidson was the winning pitcher throwing four and two-third innings allowing two unearned runs on three hits.  Ben Peters pitched the final two and one-third innnings allowing two earned runs on four hits to earn the save.
    Millikin is now 5-4 while Fontbonne falls to 5-7.  The Big Blue will host Dominican University in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 21 at Sunnyside Park starting at 1 p.m.
