Big Blue Baseball Splits with Wheaton

          The Millikin baseball team split with a conference doubleheader with Wheaton College on March 28 at Sunnyside Park in Decatur, Illinois.  The Big Blue won game one 5-1 and lost game two 5-2.
          Three Millikin pitchers combined for a strong effort in game one with Kyle Davidson earning the victory throwing six innings allowing six hits and one unearned run while striking out six.  Adam Carlisle pitched two scoreless innings and Ben Peters retired all three batters he faced in the ninth inning.
          Frank Barnes led Millikin at the plate going 3-4 with his fourth homerun of the season.  Freshman Jake Stanton was 2-3 with a double and one RBI.  Cody Blunk drove home two.
          Josh Kimmel and Andrew Laucuella each had two hits for Wheaton in game one.
          Wheaton broke open a 1-1 tie with two runs in the seventh and two in the eighth in game two. 
          Kaleb Krigbaum, Brian Ekiss and Clayton Welker each had two hits for Millikin in game two.  Stanton had Millikin's lone RBI. 
          Matt Krause was the hitting star in game two for Wheaton going 3-5 with a homerun, a double and three runs batted in.  Josh Arevalo earned the win on the mound throwing seven and one-third innings allowing seven hits and two earned runs.  Nick Johnson earned the save for Wheaton.
          Millikin is now 9-8, 1-2 while Wheaton goes to 7-12, 2-1.  Millikin will travel to North Central for a doubleheader on March 31 starting at 12 p.m.
