Millikin Softball Splits at North Park

    The Millikin softball team split a conference doubleheader at North Park University on April 12 in Chicago, Illinois.  The Big Blue won game one 3-2 and dropped the second game 5-4.
    In game one, Millikin tied the game at 1-1 in the third inning on a Heather Doyle homerun.  The Vikings would regain the advantage 2-1 in the bottom of the third.  Millikin pushed across two more runs in the fifth to go back in front.
After opening the inning with a single, Doyle scored the tying run on an Alyssa Voegele sacrifice fly.  Rachel Kindred had the game winning run scoring single.
    Doyle, Amber Morgan and Megan Fonner each had two hits for Millikin.
    Doyle was the winning pitcher scattering seven hits and two earned runs over seven innings.
    Meagan Bura led the Vikings with three hits.
    North Park took game two 5-4.  Millikin jumped out to an early lead with a four run second inning, but the Vikings answered with a single run in the fourth and four runs in the fifth.
    Nicole Koch, Doyle, Fonner and Brooke Heimerl each had an RBI for Millikin.  Kindred and Fonner each had two hits.
    Paige Massa had three hits for pace the Vikings offense.
    Millikin is now 12-16, 2-6 while North Park goes to 5-19, 2-6.
    Millikin plays at Illinois College on April 16 at 3 p.m.
