Big Blue Baseball Downs Greenville

    The Millikin baseball team picked up a home 14-9 win over Greenville College on April 14 at Sunnyside Park in Decatur, Illinois.
    Greenville jumped out in front with a three run first inning and led 4-1 after three innings.  Millikin then scored two runs in the fourth and broke the game open with six runs in the sixth and a five run eighth inning.
    Lucas Stefan was 3-5 for Millikin with a homerun and three RBIs.  Brian Ekiss was 2-4 with a bases load triple.  Ekiss had three runs scored along with his three RBIs.  Jake Stanton and Seth Coffey each had three hits and a run batted in.  Julian Gutierrez and Clayton Welker had two hits.  Eric Schurtz had two RBIs.
    Max Paolicchi earned the win in relief for Millikin throwing three innings allowing one hit and one unearned run while striking out four.  Ben Peters earned his fourth save of the season for the Big Blue.
    Ryan Smith led Greenville with three hits including a homerun and a triple with two RBIs.  Trevor Montgomery also had three hits for the Panthers.  Tim Osborned homered for Greenville.
    Millikin is now 13-14 while Greenville falls to 10-14.  The Big Blue will travel to Carthage College for a weekend CCIW series starting on April 18 with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
