Millikin Women's Tennis Drops CCIW Contest

The Millikin women's tennis team lost to Elmhurst College 6-3 in a CCIW match played on September 19 at the Fairview Tennis Center in Decatur, Illinois.
Millikin won two of the doubles matches with Paige Bequette and Taylor Stanchin winning at number two doubles 8-4 and Madeline Delano and Amber Morgan winning at number three doubles 8-5.  Elmhurst's Rachel Rettger and Ava Kolman winning at number one doubles 8-5.
The Bluejays took five of the six singles matches.  Melissa Donovan won at number three singles 6-1, 7-5.
"This is the type of match you expect in the CCIW," said Millikin Head Coach Dustin Forman.  "These matches come down to a few points here and there. Today, Elmhurst was able to capitalize on their opportunities. Full credit goes out to Elmhurst, they are a really solid team. I am proud of the way our ladies competed today. Our bottom of the lineup stepped up, as they had to play a position higher then they normally do due to injury. This match will be a great learning experience for our players and we will come back stronger, hungrier, and more determined to have a successful second half of the season."
