Millikin Tennis Opens with Win

  After have its home opener stopped short due to weather on Tuesday, the Millikin women's tennis team opened its season with a 7-2 win at Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois on September 3.
          Millikin scored three singles victories with Paige Bequette winning at number two singles 6-3, 6-1 over Tamar Norville. Big Blue sophomore Melissa Donovan won 6-1, 6-1 over Lisa Noggle at number three singles. Millikin won the number four single match when Amber Morgan blanked Jovanna Chavez 6-0, 6-0.
          Millikin scored two doubles wins with Donovan and Molly Angell winning at number one doubles 9-7 and freshman Taylor Stanchin and Aubrie Sabin winning at number two doubles 8-0.
          Kathryn Ryan won at number one singles for the Lady Blues.
          Millikin will host the Dorothy McClure Tennis Tournament on September 5 at 10 a.m. at the Fairview Park Tennis Center. The event is believed to be the oldest tournament for women in collegiate tennis.
