Millikin Women’s Basketball Drops Road Contest

         The Millikin women's basketball team lost at Elmhurst College 70-62 on January 30 in Elmhurst, Illinois.
         Things started out well for the Big Blue with Millikin leading 18-11 after the first quarter.  The Bluejays rallied in the second quarter and the game was tied at 36-36 at the half.  The game would remain tight through the third quarter with Elmhurst leading 47-46 at the end of the period.  Millikin's Emily Schultz hit a layup to tie up the game at 50-50 with 8:32 remaining in the game.  After four straight Elmhurst points, Schultz would bring the Blue Blue to within two at 54-52 with six minutes left in the game.  The Bluejays would then go on a 16-10 run to close out the game and earn the victory.
         Millikin shot 46 percent from the field while holding the Bluejays to 35 percent.  The Bluejays won the rebounding battle 44-36 with Elmhurst getting plenty of second chance opportunities with 18 offensive rebounds.
         Emily Schultz led the Big Blue with 12 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals.  Alyssa Saklak added 10 points and five rebounds.  Kelsey Going had a team high seven rebounds along with six points.
         Kaela Jones led the Bluejays with 20 points.  Mikaela Eppard had 19 points and 10 rebounds.
         Millikin falls to 7-13, 0-9 while Elmhurst improves to 12-8, 6-3.
         The Big Blue host Illinois Wesleyan University on Wednesday, February 3 at 7 p.m. for Millikin's annual Pink Game.
