Millikin Men Suffer Road Loss

         The Millikin men's basketball team's valiant second half rally wasn't enough as the Big Blue lost 72-69 at Earlham College on November 29 in Richmond, Indiana.
         Millikin struggled in the first half shooting 28 percent from the field while the Quakers connected on 54 percent from the field and built a 38-27 halftime advantage.
         The Big Blue mounted a strong second half comeback going on a 15-4 run to start the half.  Millikin tied the game at 42-42 with 14:46 remaining on a three pointer by Levi Bailey.  A layup by Korbin Farmer gave Millikin a lead at 44-42, but Earlham regrouped and pushed out to a six point lead.  Millikin again mounted a comeback and a dunk and layup from Logan Bader gave Millikin a 56-54 advantage with eight minutes left top play.  The game would be tied eight times in the second half with the last tie coming at 66-66 with 1:17 remaining.  Millikin missed on several scoring opportunities down the stretch and the Quakers converted its opportunities from the field and the free throw line to edge the Big Blue by three.  Millikin out scored Earlham by eight in the second half, but couldn't fully overcome the first half deficit.
         Millikin shot 41.5 percent from the field while Earlham hit on 52 percent.  Millikin had the rebounding edge 33-30.
         Jack Simpson lead Millikin with 18 points, five rebounds and five steals.  Bailey added 16 points.  Bader had 11 points and a team high seven rebounds.  Jordan Cunningham also had 11 points.
         Darrell Hutchinson lead Earlham with 18 points followed by Elijah Wilson-Thomas scoring 17 points including going 4-4 from the line in the game's final minute.
         Millikin is now 0-5 while the Quakers improves to 3-2.
         Millikin will open play in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) on Saturday, December 3 when they travel to Carthage College.
