Millikin Volleyball Advances to CCIW Championship Match

          The Millikin University volleyball team defeated Carthage College 3-1 in a semifinal match in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament on November 4, 2016 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois.  Millikin advances to face Elmhurst College in the Championship match on Saturday, November 5 at 2 p.m.
          Millikin lost the first set 25-17, but rallied to take the next three 25-22, 25-15 and 25-18.  Erin Syversen led Millikin with 20 kills and a .340 attacking percentage.  She added 16 digs and two service aces.  Alora Goodey had 11 kills with a .409 hitting percentage.  Emily Mihalkanin had 49 set assists and two service aces.  Cassidy Kingery had a team high 26 digs and two aces. 
          Stephanie Korbakes led Carthage with 10 kills.
          In the first semifinal match Elmhurst College defeated Wheaton College 3-0 (26-24, 25-16 and 25-18).
          Millikin improves to 25-11 on the season while Carthage ends its year at 18-13.  Elmhurst, the tournaments number two seed, is now 22-11.
