Millikin Men Score Road Victory

         The Millikin men's basketball team scored a 71-66 road win at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on December 19 in Terre Haute, Indiana.
         The game was a close contest throughout with eight ties in the first half.  The Big Blue lead 24-22 with four minutes left in the half, but the Engineers went on a 9-0 run to head to the locker room up 31-24.
         Millikin battled back in the second half and took its first lead of the half at 47-46 with 10:40 left to play on a basket by Zach Fisher.  The Engineers stayed close and regained the advantage at 54-52 on a basket by Eli Combs.  Fisher then answered for Millikin to tie the game at 54-54.  After the teams exchanged buckets, Fisher put Millikin ahead for good at 58-56 with 6:18 remaining.  Leading 64-63, Tyler Pygon gave Millikin some breathing room hitting a three pointer with one-minute left in the game to make it 67-63 Big Blue.  Leighton Lark would seal the victory for Millikin hitting a three with 19 seconds remaining to make it a 70-64 ball game.
         Millikin hit on 46 percent from the field including making 56 percent in the second half.  The Big Blue were only 4-12 (33 percent) from three point range, but the two threes in the final minute were key plays in the Millikin win.  Rose Hulman hit on 43.5 percent from the field and went 4-18 from three-point range.
Millikin won the rebounding battle 35-34.
         Fisher lead Millikin with 16 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals.  Lark added 15 points.  Pygon had 12 points and a team high eight rebounds.  Korbin Farmer had 12 points and six rebounds.
         Collin Wojcik lead Rose-Hulman was 14 points followed by Nick McGrail with 10.
         Millikin goes to 1-8 on the season while Rose-Hulman falls to 4-4.
         Millikin will be back in action on Dec. 29-30 in a tournament at Wittenberg University in Ohio.
