Millikin Women Suffer Road Loss

         The Millikin women's basketball team opened play in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) with a 96-80 loss at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin on December 3.
         A hot start by the Lady Reds was the difference in the game.  With the game tied 4-4, Carthage went on a 14-0 run to blow open the game in the first quarter.  At the end of the first quarter, Carthage led 25-10 and built and 49-28 advantage at the half.  Carthage hit 50 percent from the field in the first quarter including going 5-9 from three point range.  Millikin hit 3-13 from the field in the first quarter.
         For the game, Carthage hit 52 percent from the field and went 14-27 from three point range.  Millikin shot 45 percent from the field, but was 4-12 from three point range.  Carthage won the rebounding battle 36-30.
         Emily Schultz led Millikin with 22 points and six rebounds.  Yanni Saddler added 18 points while Cassie Somers scored 14.  Rachael Weber had 11 points and three assists.  Lauren Moses scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds.
         Carthage got 21 points from Bailey Gilbert and 19 points from Madie Kaelber.
         Millikin goes to 4-2, 0-1 while Carthage improves to 3-3, 1-0.
         The Big Blue will host North Central College on December 10 at 5 p.m.
