Big Blue Women Score Win over Coast Guard

Box Score The Millikin women's basketball team scored a 70-49 win over the United States Coast Guard Academy in DePauw University's Amy Hasbrook Memorial Classic played on December 31 in Greencastle, Indiana.
         For the second straight day, Millikin jumped out to an early advantage and never looked back. Millikin started the game on an 8-0 run and lead 18-8 after the first quarter. Millikin lead 33-22 at halftime. After a strong third quarter by the Coast Guard, Millikin used a 26-15 advantage in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
         Millikin shot 39 percent from the field and hit on 10-29 (34.5 percent) from three-point range. The Coast Guard hit 37.5 percent from the field, but managed only 4-18 from three-point range. Millikin edged Coast Guard in rebounding 38-37.
         Yanni Saddler led Millikin with 18 points followed by Devin Curry with 16. Emily Schultz and Cassie Somers each had nine points. Schultz pulled nine rebounds. Lauren Moses had nine rebounds and eight points.
         Audrey Bartz led the Coast Guard Academy with 10 points.
         Millikin is now 7-4 while the United States Coast Guard Academy falls to 2-8.
         The Big Blue return to College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) play on Wednesday, January 4 hosting Illinois Wesleyan University at 7 p.m.
