Millikin Baseball Downs Dominican

         After opening the season with a 11-2 win over Fontbonne, the Millikin baseball team defeated Dominican University 3-2 on February 27 at Fontbonne University's Shaw Park in St. Louis, Missouri.
         Millikin scored all of its runs in the first inning.  Kaleb Krigbaum opened the inning with a double.  After a Seth Coffey base hit, Krigbaum scored on a run scoring single by Frank Barnes.  Julian Gutierrez walked.  After Barnes and Gutierrez executed a double steal, Andrew Huss drove home two with a double to left center.
         Fontbonne scored two runs in the second on a Lucas McKinney run scoring double and a run scoring triple from KJ Wilk.
         Millikin got stellar starting pitching from junior Max Paolicchi who threw eight innings allowing two runs on six hits while striking out nine.  Ben Peters earned the save.  Fontbonne's first two runners in the ninth inning reached base.  After a sacrifice bunt moved the runners to second and third, first baseman Andrew Huss made the key play in the inning.  Huss fielded a soft grounder holding the runner at third before throw out the batter.  Peters got a fly out to end the game.
         Millikin is now 2-0 and the Stars go to 0-1.
         Millikin's next game is March 8 at Greenville.
