Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Big Blue Men’s Basketball Scores Second Straight Win

The Millikin men's basketball team scored its second straight win defeating North Park University 61-55 in Chicago, Illinois on February 6.  In both wins the Big Blue accomplished the difficult task of winning on the road in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW).
Millikin started off the game shooting lights out from the field.  The Big Blue shot 77 percent (10-13) from the field in the first 11 minutes of the game building a 26-13 lead.  Millikin shot 50 percent from the field for the game including 57 percent in the first half.  Millikin shot 5-11 (45.5 percent) from three-point range.  Millikin held North Park to 29 percent from the field and out rebounded the Vikings 39-34.
The Big Blue maintained a lead through out the second half.  On several occasions North Park would make a run at Millikin cutting the lead to below 10 points, but every time the Big Blue responded by pushing the advantage back out to double digits.  North Park made its strongest push in the final minutes of the game and a Jordon Robinson layup made it a four point Millikin lead at 59-55 with 28 seconds left to play.  The Big Blue sealed the win when T.J. Griffin hit two free throws with 10 seconds remaining.
T.J. Sims led the Big Blue with 24 points on 9-13 shooting from the field including going 3-4 from three-point range.  Griffin added 15 points.  Tommy Pilackas has 12 points and six rebounds.  Bryn Agnew and Elijah Kinmon tied for the team high in rebounds at seven.
Robinson led the Vikings with 25 points and 15 rebounds.  Millikin limited the CCIW's leading scorer Juwan Henry to 14 points.
Millikin is now 8-14, 2-9 while North Park falls to 14-8, 6-5.
Millikin will go for its third straight victory on Wednesday, Feb. 10 when they return home to host Wheaton College.
