Millikin Women Fall at North Park

         The Millikin women's basketball took the game down to the final seconds, but lost at North Park University 49-46 on February 6 in Chicago, Illinois.
         Things started off great for the Big Blue who jumped out an 8-0 lead and led 12-2 halfway into the first quarter.  Millikin led 14-11 at the end of the first quarter with the game tied at 26-26 at the half. 
         North Park got off to the quick start in the second half starting with a 7-0 run jumping out to a 33-26 lead.  Millikin fought back and it was a 40-39 Viking advantage at the end of three quarters.  The final quarter stayed tight with Millikin's Alyssa Saklak tying the game at 44-44 with 2:08 left in the game.  North Park's Rachel Torres and Rachel Rehberger each hit two free throws to make it a 48-44 Viking advantage.  Kelsey Going pulled Millikin to within two at 48-46 with 13 seconds left.  After North Park went one for two at the line, Millikin had a chance to tie the game, but its final shot was off the mark giving the Vikings a 49-46 victory.
         Each team struggled from the field with both hitting 30 percent from the field.  North Park had a major advantage at the free throw line going 21-41 (51 percent) while Millikin was 12-16 (75 percent).  Millikin won the rebounding battle 42-41.
         Saklak led Millikin with 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Emily Schultz had 12 points and five rebounds.
         Rehberger led North Park with 16 points including going 9-12 from the free throw line.  Amani Davis had 10 rebounds and seven points.
         Millikin falls to 7-15, 0-10 while North Park goes to 16-6, 7-4.
         The Big Blue will play its final road game of the season on Wednesday, February 10 when they travel to nationally ranked Wheaton College.
