Millikin Baseball Downs Blackburn

         The Millikin baseball team defeated Blackburn College 10-1 on March 29 in Carlinville, Illinois.  Millikin is now 9-3 on the season while the Beavers fall to 4-13.
         Millikin opened the scoring in the third inning with two runs.  Frank Barnes had an RBI single and Devin Crews drove home a run with a sacrifice fly.
         Millikin added a run in the sixth on an RBI single by Keith Askins and Kaleb Krigbaum drove home a run in the eighth inning with a double.
         Millikin scored six runs in the ninth inning with Askins blasting a three-run home run.   Askins led the Big Blue attack going 3-5 with the homer, four RBIS and two runs scored.  Seth Coffey was 2-4.
         Millikin pounded out 11 hits and took advantage of seven Blackburn errors.     
         The Big Blue got solid pitch in the game with freshman Adam Zuk earning the victory throwing three and two-thirds innings allowing no runs on five hits while striking out five.  Freshman Owen Pulver was the starter throwing three solid innings allowing two hits and one run while striking out three.  Brandon Viken two-thirds of an inning without giving up a hit.  Max Paolicchi threw the final one and two-thirds of baseball without allowing a base runner.
         Millikin will host Blackburn in the Big Blue's home opener on Wednesday, March 30 at 4 p.m. at Sunnyside Park.
