Big Blue Baseball Splits Doubleheader

         The Millikin baseball team split a CCIW doubleheader at North Park University in Chicago on April 16.  The Vikings won game one 6-4 and the Big Blue bounced back to win game two 7-3.
         In game one the Vikings jumped out a 5-1 advantage before the Big Blue mounted a comeback scoring one run in the fourth, eighth and ninth innings.
         Julian Gutierrez was 3-4 for the Big Blue with a home run.  Devin Crews was 3-4 and Luke Azzerelli and Seth Coffey each had two hits for Millikin.  James Lulek and Frank Barnes picked up RBIs for the Big Blue.
         Anthony Bragg led the Vikings going 3-5.  Jason Meger picked up the complete game victory allowing three runs on 11 hits.
         In game two, Gutierrez and Frank Barnes each went 2-5 for Millikin.  Gutierrez had a two run double and Barnes drove home one run with a double.
Crews stayed hot for Millikin going 2-4.
         Adam Zuk was the winning pitcher for Millikin allowing six hits and two earned runs while striking out six over six and two-thirds innings.  Zak Owens pitched a perfect inning in relief.  Ben Peters pitched the final inning and a third allowing only one hit.
         Ray Cekus led the Vikings going 2-5 with two RBIs.
         Millikin is now 14-11, 3-8 while North Park goes to 10-18, 3-8.
         The two teams will complete the series on Sunday, April 17 at 1 p.m.
