Big Blue Baseball Knocks Off Titans

         The Millikin baseball team defeated Illinois Wesleyan University 3-0 on April 22 in Bloomington, Illinois.

         Freshman Adam Zuk pitched a three hit shutout to lift the Big Blue.  Zuk pitched nine innings striking out seven while walking one.  Zuk improved to 4-1 on the season.
         Millikin opened the game with a run in the first inning.  Sophomore Luke Azzarelli opened the game with a base hit.  After Julian Gutierrez and Frank Barnes walked to load the bases Devin Crews drove home the run with a groundout.
         Gutierrez would make it a 2-0 Millikin advantage in the fifth inning with a home run.
         The Big Blue added an insurance run in the ninth when Adam Peters led off the inning with a double.  Anthony Bryan's sacrifice bunt moved Peters to third and he scored on a sacrifice fly by Azzarelli.
         Gutierrez, Peters and freshman Jon Walters all had two hits for the Big Blue.  Seth Coffey singled to keep his hitting streak alive at 23 straight games.
         Millikin is now 15-12, 4-9 while the Titans go to 16-14, 8-5.
         The two teams will finish the series on Saturday, April 23 with a doubleheader at Sunnyside Park in Decatur starting at 1 p.m.
