Millikin Baseball Defeats Eureka

          The Millikin baseball team picked up a non-conference road win downing Eureka College 14-7 in Eureka, Illinois on April 7.
          The Big Blue built an early advantage and kept building on the lead throughout the game.  Millikin scored three in the first, two runs in the third, five runs in the fourth and two runs in both the fifth and seventh innings.  The Red Devils kept the game interesting with a five run fifth inning.
          Millikin got on the board in the first inning on a three run home run by Julian Guttierrez.  Millikin's third inning runs came on a RBI single from Ryne Bundy and a Red Devil error.  Gutierrez stayed hot in the fourth doubling home Millikin's first run.  Frank Barnes hit a three run blast, which was followed by an RBI single by Bundy.  In the fifth inning, Gutierrez had another RBI double and Andrew Huss drove home a run with a sacrifice fly.  Millikin's final two runs came in the seventh with Devin Crews driving home a run and Huss capping the scoring with an RBI double.
          Gutierrez was 3-4 on the game with a home run and two doubles along with five RBIs.  Bundy was 3-5 with two RBIs.  Luke Azzarelli was 2-4 with three runs scored.
Lucas Stefan and Mason Bruce each collected two hits for Millikin.
          Zach Owens was credited with the win pitching the final two innings without allowing a hit.  Jib Carson was also effective in relief allowing four hits and no runs in two innings.
          Mike Passini led Eureka going 3-5 with two RBIs.  Logan Wilde, Ray Vogel, Seth Aydt and Jake Miller each had two hits for the Red Devils.
          Millikin is now 11-8 while Eureka goes to 3-14.
          The Big Blue host a CCIW series with weekend starting with a doubleheader against Elmhurst College on April 9 at 1 p.m.
