Millikin Softball Falls in CCIW Doubleheader

          The Millikin softball team lost its College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) opener at North Central College on April 9 in Naperville, Illinois.  The Cardinals won game one 7-6 and game two 5-3.
          In game one, the Big Blue scored two in the first inning, but the Cardinals answered with three in the bottom of the inning.  North Central added one in the second and two in the fourth.  Both teams scored in the sixth and the Cardinals had a 7-3 advantage heading into the final inning.
          Millikin rallied in the seventh with Alyssa Voegele driving home three runs with a bases loaded double.  The Big Blue rallied ended with the tying run on base.
          Kirsten Iversen was 3-4 for the Big Blue with an RBI. 
          Rachele Belletini had a three run homer for the Cardinals.  Samantha Anderson, Jenna Trojniar and Andrea Starr each had two hits.
          Game two had a similar start to game one with each team scoring the first inning.  North Central scored two on a two run double by Amanda Walker.  Millikin took advantage of sixth North Central walks in the first inning with Amber Morgan, Justice Miller and Haley Rotert each picking up RBIs. 
          North Central scored two in the sixth and one in the seventh to secure the win. 
          Millikin was limited to just three hits in the game by three Cardinal pitchers.
          Millikin falls to 11-9, 0-2 while North Central goes to 11-9, 2-0.
          The Big Blue are scheduled to play at Elmhurst College on April 10.
