Millikin Baseball Splits Twin Bill at Carthage

         The Millikin baseball team split at doubleheader at Carthage College on May 1 in Kenosha, Wisconsin.  The Big Blue won game one 7-3 while the Red Men won the second game 8-0.
         Millikin opened the scoring with a run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Devin Crews.  Carthage then scored two in the second and one in the third to go up 3-1.
         Millikin rallied with three runs in the third inning.  Julian Gutierrez had a two run double and the Big Blue scored a run on Carthage throwing error.
         Millikin added two runs in the fifth on a Seth Coffey RBI single and a Red Men wild pitch.  A Kaleb Krigbaum run batted in gave the Cubs an insurance run in the eighth.
         Gutierrez and Luke Azzarelli were each 2-4.  Azzarelli scored twiced.  Max Paolicchi was the winning pitcher in relief.  He pitched five innings allowing only two hits and no runs while striking out seven.
         Carthage's Tim Sulik was the story of game two.  He threw a complete game shutout limiting Millikin to six hits while striking out 11.  Jordan Wiegold had three hits for Carthage.
         Millikin is now 16-17, 5-13 while Carthage goes to 17-17, 10-8.
         The Big Blue will be in action on May 3 at Illinois College at 2 p.m.
