The Millikin men's basketball team lost 93-61 at Wheaton College on January 14 in Wheaton, Illinois.
A slow start by Millikin set Wheaton off and running who opened the game with a 14-0 run and built a 39-29 lead at halftime. The Thunder got another strong start in the second half thanks to continued hot shooting. Wheaton hit 69 percent from the field including hitting 72 percent of its shots in the second half. The Thunder were 6-6 from three-point range in the second half. Millikin hit only 38 percent from the field. Wheaton out rebounded Millikin 32-25.
Nathan Lovekamp led Millikin with 15 points. Freshman
Jordan Cunningham had his first career double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Zach Fisher had 10 points and three assists.
Aston Francis led Wheaton with 32 points.
Millikin falls to 3-12, 1-5 while Wheaton improves to 7-8, 3-3.
Millikin will face the top two teams in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin next week starting with a home game against North Park University on January 18 at 7 p.m.
