Big Blue Men’s Basketball Loses to Carroll

          The Millikin men's basketball team lost to Carroll University 75-61 in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) contest at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois on January 28.
          Carroll's hot shooting was the story of the first half with the Pioneers hitting 75 percent from the field for the first 12 minutes of game.  Carroll finished the half making 60 percent of its shots.  The Pioneers hit on 52 percent from the field for the game and mad 6-17 from three point range.  Millikin made 42 percent from the field, but made on 6-20 (30 percent) from beyond the arc.  The Big Blue struggled at the free throw line going 14-23 while Carroll made 19-22.  The Pioneers won the rebounding battle 33-27.
          Carroll led 35-28 at the half.  The Big Blue stayed close in the second half, but could never get closer than six points in the second half.
          Tyler Pygon was Millikin's top scorer with 20 points.  Jack Simpson added 11.  Jordan Cunningham had seven points and a team high five rebounds.  Chase Smith added eight points and four assists.
          Kyle Keranen led the Pioneers with 19 points followed by Ben Widdes with 15 and Nick Penny with 14.
          Carroll improves to 11-8, 6-4 while Millikin falls to 3-16, 1-9.
          Millikin will host Illinois Wesleyan on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m.
