Millikin Women Roll Past Pioneers

          The Millikin women's basketball team downed Carroll University 91-59 on January 28 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois.
          After Carroll jumped out to an early 9-4 lead, the Big Blue regrouped and controlled the game the rest of the way.  Millikin lead 27-16 at the end of the first quarter and 50-32 at halftime.
          Millikin shot 44 percent from the field and connected on 9-28 (32 percent) from three point range.  Millikin took advantage of its free throw opportunities making 20-25.  Carroll hit only 36 percent from the field and went 5-18 from three point range.  Millikin won the rebounding battle 51-25.
          Millikin had four players score in double figures lead by Devin Curry with 22 points, five rebounds and five steals.  Emily Schultz had a double double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.  Cassie Somers added 12 points and EC Thies scored 10. 
          Carroll's top scorer was Brittney Wald with 24 points and a team high nine rebounds.
          Millikin is now 9-10, 3-7 while Carroll falls to 1-17, 1-9.
          Millikin will travel to Illinois Wesleyan on Feb. 1 for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
