Millikin Women Suffer Conference Road Loss

         The Millikin women's basketball team lost at Carroll University 75-73 on January 7 in Waukesha, Wisconsin.  The Big Blue faced the Pioneers for the first time since Carroll rejoined the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) this academic year.
         The game was a tight contest the entire game.  Millikin had an 18-17 lead at the end of the first quarter and took a 43-37 advantage into the locker room at halftime.  Carroll rallied in the third quarter and lead 56-55 at the end of the period.  Each team had leads in the final quarter with the Pioneers holding the largest lead in the period at four points.  Millikin's Devin Curry tied the game in the final 20 seconds when she converted three free throws to make it a 73-73 game.  Carroll got the game winner on a basket from Morgan Lund with 1.2 seconds remaining.
         Millikin shot 43.5 percent from the field hitting on 6-14 (43 percent) from three-point range.  Carroll made 46 percent of its shots and connected on 10-25 (40 percent) from three-point range.  Each team made 13 free throws.  Millikin won the rebounding battle 35-33.
         Yanni Saddler and Curry each had 15 points to lead Millikin.  Emily Schultz had 10 points and 11 rebounds.  Lauren Moses added 10 points and six rebounds.
         Sara Hartl led Carroll with 19 points.  Brittney Wald had 18 points and 10 rebounds.  Lund finished with 18 points.
         The victory was Carroll first win of the season giving the Pioneers are record of 1-11, 1-3.  Millikin falls to 7-6, 1-4.
         Millikin will play at makeup game at fourth ranked Washington University-St. Louis on Monday, January 9 at 2:30 p.m.
