#14 Big Blue Volleyball Upends #12 Illinois Wesleyan

          The 14th ranked Millikin volleyball team scored a major road victory knocking off #12 Illinois Wesleyan 3-2 in Bloomington, Illinois on Oct. 10.  The win gives Millikin sole possession of first place in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW).  Millikin improves to 17-5 overall and 4-0 in the CCIW.  Illinois Wesleyan falls to 14-5, 4-1.
        The match lived up to the expectations with two nationally ranked teams battling for the top spot in the conference.  Illinois Wesleyan won the first set 25-22 with Millikin rallying to win the second set 25-23.  The Titans then won 25-19 before the Big Blue answered with a fourth set victory 25-19.  Millikin jumped out to a fast start in the fifth set building a 4-0 advantage before pulling out to an 8-2 lead.  Millikin held off a late push from the Titans to win the set and the match 15-10.
        Seniors Erin Syversen and Alora Goodey led the way for the Millikin attack continuing their outstanding seasons.  The duo swept CCIW Player of the Week honors announced earlier today.  Syversen had 21 kills, 12 digs, one blocks and one service ace against the Titans.  Goodey added 19 kills and four blocks.
        Emily Seegmiller had nine digs, six digs, two blocks and an ace for the Big Blue.  Marissa McElroy had nine kills, three blocks and a service ace.
Senior Emily Mihalkanin had 43 set assists and 22 digs.  Senior Meredith Artime had a team high 28 digs.
        Tyler Brown led the Titans attack with 13 kills and 18 digs.
        Millikin will travel to Michigan on Oct. 13-14 to play in a tournament hosted by sixth ranked Calvin College and Hope College.
