#12 Millikin Volleyball Downs Carthage

          The 12th ranked Millikin volleyball team defeated Carthage College 3-2 in a key College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) match on October 18 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois.  The Big Blue remain in first place in the conference with a 5-0 record and a 21-6 overall mark.  The Lady Reds fall to 14-7, 4-2.
          The match was a hard fought CCIW battle with Carthage winning the first set 25-21.  Millikin then won the second set 25-17.  The third set was close throughout with Carthage winning 29-27.  Down two sets to one, Millikin won the fourth set 25-20 and took the fifth set 15-10.
          Millikin got 26 kills, 17 digs and four service aces from senior Erin Syversen.  Fellow senior Alora Goodey had 18 kills and five blocks.  Emily Seegmiller added 12 kills and Marissa McElroy had nine. Senior setter Emily Mihalkanin had 52 set assists, 19 digs and three service aces.  Meredith Artime had 19 digs and sophomore Skylar Harris added 12.
          Shannon Kebisek led Carthage with 16 kills and 14 digs.  Mallory Parsons had four service aces for the Lady Reds.
          Millikin will host Augustana College on Friday, October 20 at 7 p.m.
