Big Blue Women’s Tennis Fourth at CCIW Tournament

The Millikin women's tennis team finished tied for fourth at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Tennis Tournament played Oct. 19-21 at the Centre Court Athletic Club in Hanover Park, Illinois.
          Millikin finished the tournament tied with Carroll University with 20 tournament points. The conference is using a new formula for the overall season finish this season that factors in team's regular season record in CCIW matches. Based on the new formula the Big Blue were fifth overall just missing the conference's Spring NCAA Qualifier. Millikin had five regular season points and 11 championship placement points for a total of 16. Carroll had a total of 17 points.
          In action on Saturday, Millikin's Melissa Donovan lost to Carroll's Lora Leach in the third place match at number four singles.
          At number five singles, Millikin's Kelly Ruane won the third place match defeating Carroll's Megan Wiersma 8-2.
          In number six singles, Millikin's Madeline Delana dropped the third place match to Carthage's Anna Spencer 8-1.
          Millikin's number two doubles team of Kelly and Maggie Ruane won their third place match 8-3 over a duo from Carroll.
          Millikin lost a heartbreaker in the third place match at number three doubles as Morgan Bettner and Delano lost to Carthage's Spencer\Baeberle 9-8 (6).
          Wheaton was the tournament and overall conference winner.
