Millikin Volleyball Ranked Eighth in AVCA Poll

  DECATUR, Illinois—The Millikin University volleyball team has moved up to eighth in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) NCAA Division III Top 25 Poll released today. The Big Blue received 1,112 points in the week's poll moving up two spots from last week.
          This week's rankings marks the second time this season the Big Blue have been ranked eighth in the nation. The September 19 ranking of eighth was the highest ranking for a Millikin volleyball team in school history.
          Millikin is 26-6 overall and 7-0 in conference play. Millikin went 4-0 last week include a 3-1 win over then 12th ranked Washington University-St. Louis. The Big Blue defeated Elmhurst 3-0 to clinch its third straight College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) regular season title.
          Millikin is among the leaders in the latest NCAA Division III statistical rankings. Mililkin is first in the nation in total kills with 1,753 and second in total team assists with 1,615.
The Big Blue are third in the nation in kills per set with 13.91. Millikin is seventh in assists per set at 12.77. The Big Blue rank 10th in Division III in hitting percentage at .254. Millikin senior Erin Syversen is fifth in the country in total kills with 492. Alora Goodey ranks 18th with 428. Millikin setter Emily Mihalkanin is 18th in the nation in total assists with 1,045.
          Millikin plays its final regular season game tonight at Carroll University. The Big Blue will host the CCIW Tournament on Nov. 3-4. Millikin's semifinal match is on Friday at 7 p.m. The championship match will be Nov. 4 at 6 p.m.
