The Millikin men's and women's swimming team compete at the Illinois College Quad Meet on November 4 in Jacksonville, Illinois.
The Big Blue women's won all three of its matches defeating Principia 158-32, Knox 152-72 and Illinois College 145-66.
The women's swim team won 11 of 14 events at the meet. Senior Sami Battle was the victor in her three individual events: 200 free (2:07.49), 50 free (25.39), and 100 free (57.02) and sealed the win in her fourth event as anchor of the 200 freestyle relay. Senior Felicity Speirs won two of her three individual events: 1650 free (20:16.21) and 500 free (5:54.34) and was a member of the winning 200 freestyle relay.  Additional wins were recorded by freshman Millie Gegg in the 200 breast (3:05.07) and by sophomore transfer Alena Hinch in the 100 fly (1:07.57). The winning 200 free relay included freshman Brooke Baldwin, Hinch, Speirs and Battle. The women's team recorded 12 season best times on the day.
The Millikin men won two of three defeating Principia 99-67, Knox 109-28 and losing to Illinois College 111-81.
The men's highlights include taking first and second in the 100 free and winning a very close and exciting 200 free relay by .1 seconds over the meet host, Illinois College. Freshman Nick Hoerr won all three of his individual events: 200 free (1:57.30), 100 free (50.95) and 100 fly (58.53). Hoerr also held on as anchor of the 200 freestyle relay to take the victory in the final relay of the day. The 200 free relay included Cole Jones, Jake Williams, Cameron Lee and Hoerr.  Sophomore Cole Jones also won the 100 back (1:00.40). The men recorded seven season best times on the day.
"Today, the swimmers showed they can dig deep and perform when they are tired," said Director of Swimming Molly Duesterhaus.  "We are gaining strength and confidence to step up and race with top swimmers. I am so proud of the both teams and how they performed."
"We had an incredible performance out of our squad," said Big Blue Assist Coach Nick Wyllie. "We are working extremely hard right now and to be able to show up and step up like we did today exceeded expectations. I am very happy with our finishes, we have been targeting that in practice and today we had four wins within .5 seconds over the competition. It is great to see the work pay off.
