Millikin Women Fall to #22 Bears

          The Millikin women's basketball team lost to #22 Washington University-St. Louis on December 10 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois.
          Washington University led after the first quarter 18-13.  The Big Blue played the Bears even in the second period and the score at halftime was 36-31 in favor of Washington University-St. Louis.  The Bears showed why they are nationally ranked in third quarter hitting on 56 percent of its shots and outscoring Millikin 30-16 to pull away to a comfortable lead.  It was 66-47 after three quarters.
          Millikin shot 50 percent from the field for the game while the Bears hit on 48 percent.  Washington University-St. Louis had 15 more shot opportunities than the Big Blue thanks in part to out rebounding Millikin by nine (34-25) and forcing Millikin into 17 turnovers while committing only 10.
          Freshman Jordan Hildebrand led Millikin with 18 points and three rebounds.  Emily Schultz had nine points and five rebounds.  Lauren Moses had eight points, eight rebounds and three assists.  Devin Curry had eight points and three assists and Haley Toohill had seven points and four assists.
          Rachael Sondag led the Bears with 18 points.  Madeline Homoly had 16 points and a team high seven rebounds.
          Millikin falls to 3-5 on the season while the Bears improve to 6-2.
