Millikin Women Fall in Florida

         The Millikin women's basketball team lost to Eastern Connecticut State University 77-69 on December 17 at the Cruzin Classic in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
         Millikin controlled the first and third quarters of the game, but were outscored in both the second and fourth periods.  Millikin lead 24-21 after one quarter, but trailed 39-32 at the half.  Millikin used a 21-12 third quarter to pull ahead 53-51.  The Warriors outscored Millikin in the fourth quarter 26-18.
         Both teams had 61 shots in the game with Millikin hitting 22 (36 percent) and Eastern Connecticut connecting on 29 (47.5 percent).  Millikin hit 10-24 from three-point range, but could not overcome the point deficit.  Millikin won the rebounding battle 39-34.
         Devin Curry led Millikin with 24 points, six assists and five rebounds.  Emily Schultz had 11 points and five rebounds.  Haley Toohill added 10 points.  Lauren Moses had nine points and a team high 12 rebounds.  Jordan Hildebrand had eight points and eight rebounds.
         Mya Villard and Kelsey Santagata each scored 16 points to lead the Warriors.
         Millikin falls to 4-6 while Eastern Connecticut goes to 3-5.
         The Big Blue coaches and players will enjoy a cruise to the Bahamas for the next few days before heading home for the holidays.  Millikin will close out 2017 with road games at Illinois College on December 30 and at Monmouth College on New Year's Eve.
