Big Blue Baseball Splits Doubleheader

The Millikin baseball team split a doubleheader with Bethel College on February 24 at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana.  The teams dodged storms to get the two games complete with Bethel winning game one 5-2 and Millikin winning game two 9-4.
Millikin's runs in the first game came in the fifth inning.  Freshman Garrett Brachbill led off with a triple and scored on a Mason Bruce ground out.  Julian Gutierrez drove home Millikin's second run with a sacrifice fly.
Heath Brooksher led Bethel going 2-3 with a two run homer.
In game two, Millikin won 9-4 with the game being called after six innings due to lightning in the area.
Millikin jumped out to an early lead with a four run second inning.  Bruce had a bases clearing three run triple to get the Big Blue on the board.  Bruce later scored on an RBI double from Seth Coffey.
Gutierrez led off the Millikin third with a homerun.  Bruce would again come up with the bases loaded and this time he delivered a two run double.  Gutierrez would have an RBI triple in the fourth and Andy Huss drove home Millikin's final run with a sacrifice fly.
Logan Talkington earned the pitching win for Millikin.  Gage Eller and Zach Owens were each effective in relief with Eller getting out of a fifth inning jam and Owens pitching a scoreless sixth.
         Millikin is now 3-2.
