Comeback Falls Short as Millikin Women Fall at Augustana

         The Millikin women's basketball team's second half comeback fell short as the Big Blue lost 83-76 at Augustana College on February 4 in Rock Island, Illinois.
         The first half was the story of two entirely different quarters.  The first quarter was all Millikin with the Big Blue leading 18-12 at the end of the first quarter.  The second quarter was all Vikings who out scored Millikin 28-7 to build a 40-25 lead at halftime.  Millikin out scored the Vikings by four points in both the third and fourth quarter, but couldn't overcome the first half deficit.  Millikin used a basket and two free throws from Lauren Moses to pull to 76-73 with 52 seconds remaining.  Augustana's Izzy Anderson answered with a basket and the Vikings converted five out six at the free throw line in the final seconds to secure the victory.
         Millikin shot 39 percent from the field and made 10-17 (59 percent) from three-point range.  Millikin was 10-17 from the free throw line.  The Vikings hit 39 percent of its shots and made 21-32 from the free throw line.  Augustana had a major rebounding advantage 55 to 41.
         Devin Curry led Millikin with 20 points.  Emily Schultz had 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Moses finished with a double double as well with 10 points and 11 rebounds.  Yanni Saddler added 14 for the Big Blue and Rachael Weber had 10.
         Anderson led the Vikings with 18 points.  Victoria Allen had 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Kaycee Kallenberger had a game high 14 rebounds and seven points.
         Augustana is now 15-6, 8-4 while Millikin goes to 9-12, 3-9.
         Millikin travels to North Central on February 8.
