Big Blue Women’s Basketball Falls at North Central

          The Millikin women's basketball team dropped its final road game of the season falling 89-73 at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois on February 8.
          North Central led 28-20 at the end of the first quarter and then the two teams played evenly in the second quarter giving the Cardinals a 47-39 advantage at halftime.  North Central outscored Millikin by three points in the third quarter and five points in the final quarter to win by 16.  North Central shot only 38.5 percent from the field compared to 42 percent for Millikin.  The Cardinals took 11 more shots than Millikin and were more effective from three point range.  North Central was 16-52 from beyond the arc while Millikin mad 5-17.  Millikin won the rebounding battle 57-39, but the Cardinals forced Millikin into 35 turnovers while committing 19.
          Emily Schultz scored a career high 29 points to lead Millikin.  She added eight rebounds.
Devin Curry had 15 points and nine rebounds and Lauren Moses had a double double with 10 points and 15 rebounds.
          Anita Sterling led North Central with 21 points followed by Jamie Cuny with 16.
          Millikin is now 9-13, 3-10 while North Central is 11-10, 5-7.
          Millikin will be off on Saturday before closing out the season with three straight home games starting on February 15 when they host Wheaton College.
