Big Blue Softball Splits in Tuesday Action

          The Millikin softball team split a pair of games played at the Spring Games on March 14 at Sleepy Hollow Park in Leesburg, Florida.  Millikin defeated Lake Forest 8-0 and lost to Trinity (Conn.) 3-0.
          In the opener Millikin scored twice in the second, twice in the four, once in the fifth and three times in the seventh.
          Millikin freshman Kalli Farmer went 3-4 with two RBIs.  Brooke Heimerl also had three hits and drove home one run.  Kelsey Farmer went 1-4 with two RBIs.
          Millikin's Gracie Brookens and Nicole Koch combined to hold Lake Forest to just three hits over seven innings.  Brookens threw the first three innings with Koch earning the victory pitching the final four innings.
          Riley Frisbie was 2-3 for the Foresters.
          In game two, Trinity's Lindsay Golia shutdown the Millikin attack allowing six hits and no runs in seven innings.  Trinity got a two-run homer from Nicole Towner in the top of the seventh inning to seal the victory.
          Millikin is now 5-5 and will play twice more on Wednesday.  The Big Blue play Rochester Institute of Technology at 7 a.m. CT and face Roger Williams University at 12 p.m. CT. at Hancock Park in Clermont, Florida.
