Millikin Sweeps Doubleheader

            The Millikin baseball team swept a doubleheader at the University of Dallas on March 15 in Irving, Texas.  The sweep gave Millikin wins in all four games on its Texas trip and propelled the Big Blue to a six game winning streak.  Millikin is now 9-3 on the season.  University of Dallas is now 7-13.
            In game one, Millikin won 3-1 behind the pitching of freshman Ben Williamson who threw six innings allowing four hits and one run with one strike out.  Senior Ben Peters picked up the save getting the final three outs including two strikeouts.
            Millikin got on the board in the first inning.  Seth Coffey had a one out single and went to third on a double by Julian Gutierrez.  Coffey scored on a run scoring single from Devin Crews.
            After the University of Dallas tied the game in the bottom of the second, Millikin regained the lead with two in the top of the third.  Coffey again started the rally with a base hit.  After Coffey stole second, he scored on a double by Jake Drada.  Crews picked up his second RBI of the game with a base hit to score Drada.
            The Big Blue dominated game two winning 13-0.  Millikin scored once in the second inning and then exploded for four runs in the fourth inning and five in the fifth.  The Big Blue added on three runs in the ninth inning.
            Three Millikin pitchers combined to shutout the Crusaders.  Starter Logan Talkington earned the win throwing six and one-third innings allowing only four hits while striking out five.
Anthony Rendina threw one and two-thirds innings without allowing a hit.  Ryan Dobey retired all three batters he faced in the ninth inning.
            Mason Bruce had two hits for Millikin with two RBIs and two runs scored.  Anthony Bryan was 2-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs.  Jake Stanton went 2-3 with an RBI.  Drada had two hits.  Gutierrez had a three run double in the fifth inning and drove home four runs in the game.  Clayton Welker had two RBIs.
            Millikin is off until March 26 when play a doubleheader at Dominican University.
