Millikin Baseball Winning Streak Reaches Eight Straight

         The Millikin baseball team ran its winning streak to eight straight games sweeping a doubleheader over Dominican University on March 26 at Boomers Field in Schaumburg, Illinois.  Millikin is now 11-3 on the season.
         Millikin won the first game 3-1 in a game scheduled for seven innings.  Logan Talkington was the winning pitcher throwing four and two-thirds innings allowing four hits and one earned run while striking out seven.  Talkington is now 3-0 on the season.  Ben Peters pitched the final two innings without allowing a hit to earn his third save.
         Keith Askins went 3-3 and scored all three of the Big Blue runs.  Hunter Wenstrom went 2-3 and Mason Bruce was 1-2 with two RBIs for Millikin.
         Joe Kukla scored the Dominican run after reaching base on a double.  Frankie Sessa had the run batted in drawing a bases loaded walk.
         Millikin rallied in both the eighth and ninth innings to pull out a 10-5 victory in game two.  Trailing 3-2 after seven innings, Millikin scored three runs in the top of the eighth to take a 5-3 advantage.  Dominican rallied for two in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 5-5.  Millikin then scored five in the top of the ninth to secure the victory.
         Askins continued his hot hitting in game two going 3-4 with three RBIs including a three-run triple in the eighth inning.  Jake Drada was 3-5 with an RBI.  Julian Gutierrez, Devin Crews and Jake Stanton each had two hits for Millikin.
         After earning the save in game one, Peters was the winning pitcher in game two throwing the final one and one third inning allowing two hits and no runs.
         Mike Piotrowski and Matt Sequvia each had two hits and two RBIs for Dominican.
         The Big Blue open play in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) on March 28 when they travel to Augustana College.
