Millikin Softball Goes 1-1 in Florida

          The Millikin softball team rebounded from an early morning loss to split a pair of games at the Spring Games in Clermont, Florida on March 15. 
          Millikin started its day with an early morning 12-9 loss to Rochester Institute of Technology.  The Tigers scored all of its runs in two innings putting up nine runs in the second inning and adding three more in the third.  The Big Blue battled all game, but could never make up the deficit.
          Marissa Padilla, Alexis Dockins and Justice Miller each had two hits for Millikin.  Chelsea Eads and Kalli Farmer each had one hit and two RBIs.
          Rochester Institute was led by Alexandria Lunderman going 2-4 with a homerun and four RBIs.  The Tigers also got homeruns and two hits each from Tori Blaker and Sam Killian.
          The Big Blue then rallied in game two to defeat Roger Williams University 9-1 in six innings.  After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the second, the Big Blue stormed ahead with three runs in the second, three more in the third, two in the front and the game ending run in the bottom of the sixth.
          Millikin scored its runs in the third on a RBI double from Kalli Farmer, a sacrifice fly from Kesley Farmer and a run scoring double from Nicole Koch.  In the third inning, Kalli Farmer had an RBI single and Kesley Farmer added a two run double.  Alyssa Voegele's two run homerun supplied the scoring in the fourth inning.
          Cathy Lebryk was the winning pitcher for Millikin throwing six innings allowing four hits and one run while striking out two.
          Millikin is now 6-6.  The Big Blue will take Thursday off and return to action on Friday, March 17 Saint Mary's (Ind.) and Bethany College starting at 8 a.m. ET.
